By BACT Media Unit – 23 November 2023
The 2023 Athlead Summer Slam Champions were crowned at Belconnen Basketball Stadium, with both Grand Finals proving to be hard-fought encounters on-court…
In the Womens’ Grand Final, Team Norton were able to hold off Team Lowndes in a close one – 78-76 – to claim the Slam Championship. With the lead changing several times during the last quarter, it was Team Norton who managed to hold on for the win.
Stat Stars for the game were – Jasmyn Boutzos and Rachel Mate (Team Norton) with 30 points and 18 points respectively, while Sophie Brennan and Ella Collins (32 points and 19 points respectively) showed the way for Team Lowndes.
In the Mens’ Grand Final, it was the NBAGA who prevailed with a 88-71 victory over Team McKenzie – to take the title. A strong scoring 2nd quarter set the victory up for NBAGA, and despite Team McKenzie’s best efforts, they couldn’t bridge the gap.
Stat Stars for the game were – Manie Joses and Hamad Mousa (NBAGA) with 21 points and 19 points respectively, while Team McKenzie’s Glenn Morison (25 pts) and Robbie Emelifeonwu (19 pts) were the players leading the charge for their team-mates.
