For many young Canberrans, deciding what they want to do after Year 12 is a major decision that could lead to study, employment, travel or just the opportunity to “catch one’s breath” after spending the majority of their young years in a classroom.

For some, it is the first step in a completely different country as they chase their sporting dreams.

Each year a large number of our local youngsters make the journey to North America, to take up college opportunities and expand their on-court development.

As the ACT plunges into winter, many of our college stars are back in Canberra to catch up with family and friends, while on Summer break.  Basketball ACT caught up with several of them, to see how College life is preparing them for the future – on and off court.

First up we chat to Hayley McDonald and Maddy Wheatley…
