The Canberra Gunners were glued to their screen over the weekend – not watching the Paris Games – but seeing who they would face in the 2024 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 East presented by National Storage Preliminary Final at Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium on 3 August 2024.

After seeing off the COE in Week 1 of the Finals, the Gunners earned the right to host the Preliminary Final once again in Canberra.

The weekend’s semi-finals saw COE play Albury Wodonga Bandits in Tuggeranong on Saturday. COE proved too strong for the Bandits, and will travel to Maitland to take on the Mustangs next weekend.

Meanwhile, the 2nd semi-Final on Sunday was the one Gunners fans were sweating on. The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles played host to the Sydney Comets, with the Comets running out big winners.

The win sets the stage for a HUGE Home Preliminary Final this Saturday in a Capital City Clash, which will see the Biwali Bayles-led Comets, looking to flip the script on the Gunners, who take a 2-0 regular season record against the Comets into the Preliminary Final.

In a big day of basketball at Tuggeranong, the Canberra Nationals Academy will play Maitland at 3.30pm, followed by the Canberra Gunners Academy taking on the Sharks at 5.30pm, in their Rd 19 Waratah League match-ups.

The Canberra Gunners v Sydney Comets Preliminary Final tips-off at 7.30pm.
