After another year of growth and success, basketball in the National Capital is back in a big way for 2025, with the annual Canberra Classic set to mark the official start to the year, this weekend at Belconnen Basketball Stadium.

The Canberra Classic, to be contested from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 January 2025, has attracted over 30 teams from across the region and interstate, for a pre-season competition designed to build towards the 2025 NBL1 East, Basketball NSW (BNSW) competitions, National Championships and the Senior Premier League seasons.

The Canberra Gunners and Canberra Nationals will lead the local charge, as they look to finalise their 2025 rosters for NBL1 East, whilst our Academy squads and Under 18 and Under 20 Territory squads will use the season opening tournament to prepare for their upcoming BNSW competitions and National Championship campaigns.  Adding depth to the competition will be teams representing the Hornsby Ku Ring Gai Spiders, Sutherland Sharks, Inner West Bulls, Blacktown Storm, St George Saints, Camden Wildfire and Queanbeyan Roadrunners.
