Club Board/Committee Essentials Workshop – Now Open for Registration

Basketball ACT is conducting a 1-day Club Board/Committee Essentials Workshop, on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November 2024, aimed at current or future club board/committee members, designed to breakdown role requirements, standards, expectations and successful governance.

Presented by Margot Foster AM OLY, the 1-day workshop will assist and grow you Club’s understanding of governance, collaboration and cohesions.

Topics that will be covered in the workshop include, but are not limited to, the following. 

a.          Director duties and responsibilities including financial

b.          The role of the board as a whole

c.           The role of the chair as leader not boss

d.          Dealing with conflicts of interest which will include a role play

e.           Managing risk and compliance

f.            Understanding the distinction between a strategic vs management focus

g.           What a well-run meeting looks like including board paper prep and writing minutes

h.          The constitution and board membership including terms 

i.            The relationship between the board and staff.
